The testing accomplished high AOA beyond both the positive and negative maximum command limits, including intentionally putting the aircraft out of control in several configurations. Lockheed Martin showcased its F-35 Lightning II mobile cockpit demonstrator and provided an update on the status of the program at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver today.

An F-35B Lightning II completed the first short takeoff and vertical landing during a test mission at night to expand the flight envelope and deliver capability to the warfighter.
Marine Corps test pilot Maj. C.R.
